A WOMAN has been disqualified from keeping all animals for life by Truro magistrates.

Maria Warren, aged 53, of Parc-An-Tansys, Camborne, was found guilty of two offences of neglecting cats on Tuesday. She did not attend the hearing.

The first charge, which took place between April 30 and June 7 this year, was for causing unnecessary suffering to a cat by failing to explore and address the causes of the animal's poor condition.

The second offence, relating to the same time period, was for not ensuring that two cats were provided with a suitable environment which was hygienic and/or free from hazards.

Magistrates imposed the life ban on keeping animals, which disqualified here from owning, keeping or participating in keeping animals.

The defendant cannot apply for a termination of the order, which was made under section 34 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006, for three years. The cats will be taken into the care of the RSPCA.

Warren was also ordered to pay £300 costs.
