This month the Packet's Pub of the Year campaign continues in full swing - celebrating the well-loved community hubs that are Cornish pubs.

For October's pub we are looking for something special: the Most Innovative.

We want to hear all about forward-thinking pubs that have broken away from the norm, diversified or done something that really makes them stand out from the crowd.

Voting is open now, see below for details of how to cast your nomination.

We are also pleased to announce the winner of September's category: Most Sustainable.

The King's Arms in Penryn took the lead, with readers highlighting the locally-sourced food, beers and recycling efforts of landlords Paul and Tracey Chambers.

The Packet caught up with the pair who shared a few stories about what makes their pub so special - including one or two tales about guests of the supernatural ilk.

Paul said: "It's quite an interesting array of people, and we know everybody. We've been here since 2007 so we know quite a lot of people."

The couple have been serving the people of Penryn since then, apart from a brief spell that saw them help set up a pub in Portreath.

"When we came back after almost a year a lot of the customers had changed, it was quite surprising," Paul added.

Speaking of spells, The King's Arms' claim to fame is that it is "one of the most haunted properties in the county," according to Paul.

Tracey recalled a story about how a guest was supposedly pinned down to their bed by a ghostly visitor; Paul described how new landlords of the Kings (built in the 1300s) always get a "touch" from the ghost, "either a push or a shove or a pull".

Armed with fantastical stories about the building's past, the couple are equally optimistic about its future, having recently purchased the lease.

Renovations are underway with improvements to bed and breakfast rooms, bar decor and LED lighting to cut down on energy usage.
