One of the main roads out of Helston is to be closed for two weeks and drivers have been warned to expect disruption.

Cornwall Council has warned that delays are “likely” as a result of the work on Falmouth Road, which begins in just over a week on Monday, October 14 and is due to continue until Friday, October 25.

During that time the road will be closed from the Turnpike roundabout to the Gwealdues end of the relief road roundabout.

This is to allow the road to be dug up from outside Poldene to adjacent to Fearnmore, so that a new gas main can be installed by Gas Transportation Co Ltd.

This will supply the new Park an Daras housing development that is being built next to Rowe’s Lane, on the so-called HX1 urban extension site, where 450 houses are being built.

The closure will be in place 24 hours a day, during weekdays only, and residents will continue to have access during these times.

A diversion will be in place, directing drivers to use the relief road to Helston Rugby Club, which may increase journey times to Truro and Falmouth.
