A Falmouth teenager who has only just passed his driving test won a brand-new £20,000 Ford Fiesta.

Toby Doble, 17, won the new car and £20,000 in cash after entering the Best of the Best (BOTB) competition.

He had been eyeing up the sporty Fiesta ST-2 for some time and was "lost for words" when shown the new ride.

Falmouth Packet:

He said: "I've seen them driving around for ages and there's so many little changes you can do to them."

Toby had previously been driving the family's Volkswagen Up and was presented with his prizes in front of his whole family at the bottom of their drive.

BOTB presenter Christian Williams said: "“It’s fully kitted out and a great little car,” said Christian. “It’s one of the best little hot hatches I’ve driven in a while. I hope Toby really enjoys his new motor and I think it suits him a little better than the VW Up he’s used to driving!”

Falmouth Packet:

Toby’s mum Katy told Christian: “It was a nightmare to keep it a secret.”

BOTB was founded in 1999 by William Hindmarch and over the years has given away £29m worth of prizes.

The competition involves buying tickets and playing 'Spot the Ball'. A judging panel of professional sportspeople then chooses where they think the ball should be and whoever is closest wins.
