A WOMAN has been sent to prison for 25 weeks for a string of offences.

Kirsty Marie Mankee, aged 23, c/o HMP Eastwood Park, pleaded guilty to harassment, two assaults, stealing alcohol and failing to surrender to custody.

She appeared via videolink before Truro magistrates on Tuesday.

The harassment offence took place between March 20 and April 2 in North Roskear Meadow, Camborne, when she sent threatening text messages and made numerous unwanted calls.

The first assault took place in Camborne on December 22 last year, while the second one occurred on March 22 earlier this year in Redruth.

On March 22 she stole three items of alcohol to the value of £18.45 from Tesco in Redruth.

On April 30, she failed to surrender to custody at Bodmin Magistrates' Court having been released on bail in criminal proceedings on April 4.

In sentencing her to 25 weeks in jail, magistrates said the harassment "was nasty and persistent and the assaults were committed in public, causing injury and in one case with a child present".

The offence was aggravated by the defendant's record of previous offending.

She was also ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge.
