Cormac workers in Mylor Bridge have been forced to tarmac around a parked vehicle.

Residents of Passage Hill were given notice and asked to move their cars before the work started yesterday.

But one failed to take heed of the requests and has caused delays to the roadworks which are expected to finish on October 23.

Resident Val Conolly said: "It caused chaos yesterday for residents, drivers and the road workers. Despite police being called, nothing could be done to remove the car.

"The road workers are now having to tarmac around said vehicle.

"Personally, I am angry and frustrated by the lack of community spirit and the inability of authority, Police and Cornwall Council to not have any power to act on this kind of incident, they are, after all, paid for by us.

"The village will be left with a lovely new tarmac main road with a nasty scar slap bang in the middle, currently coned off like a traffic accident."

A Cormac worker said that the driver's refusal to move their car had caused the work to be delayed by several hours.

He said that they had knocked on the resident's door and posted leaflets through the letterbox but had had no response.

Workers had seen no sign of the man all day.

He added: "We get this all the time."

Cornwall Council has been contacted for a comment.
