Showing off led to a motorcyclist showing his driving licence yesterday when he pulled two wheelies and then rode with both hands and feet off the bike - right next to an unmarked police car.

As a result the rider was stopped for careless driving on A390 at Gloweth, near Treliske in Truro.

In what proved to a busy day for the officers, they also stopped a driver doing more than 94mph on the A30 in the pouring rain, 11 people for having no insurance, six for having no valid MOT - including one with children in the car - and one for using a mobile phone while stopped at a traffic light.

In total, 25 motorists were pulled over by the road safety team.

A spokesperson for the Devon and Cornwall Police No Excuse team said: "A busy day for the team in and around Truro.

"Ten of the vehicles were seized and three reports sent to the DVLA for vehicles which had expired vehicle excise licences or were notified off road and being used."

It came only a day after the team seized a van on the A389 in Bodmin that had had no tax since June 2016 and no MOT since 2017.
