A clothes shop in Falmouth's Market Street that has been empty since last year could be turned into a bar.

Lee Denton has applied for planning permission to change the use of the former Henri Lloyd building from retail premises (A1) to a drinking establishment (A4).

The shop closed down in 2018 and the company went into administration in June before being bought out by Aligro Group.

It was reported at the time that 128 jobs would be lost.

If Cornwall Council grants permission for the proposed change of use, the applicant says the bar will employ three full-time and six part-time members of staff.

Its proposed opening hours are between 9am and 1am from Monday to Friday, 9am to 2am on Saturdays and 12pm to 11pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

The building is currently listed to let by Truro estate agents Vickery Holman.
