A member of the public had to intervene yesterday when a kite surfer found himself being blown out to sea in the strong winds.
Falmouth Coastguards received a 999 call at around 4.25pm about the surfer at Godrevy.
Portreath Coastguard Rescue Team and the St Ives all-weather lifeboat were both scrambled to his aid.
The coastguards arrived just as the kite surfer had managed to reach some rocks at Godrevy Cove.
Members of the team helped him off the rocks before checking him over to make sure he did not need any medical help.
A spokesperson said: “After we were sure that he was unharmed by his ordeal, we escorted him to his vehicle.”
It was the second callout in the same afternoon for the coastguard team, who were earlier called to The Towans near Gwithian where a woman had fallen and had a suspected broken leg, at around 1.10pm.
The volunteer coastguards carried her on a stretcher across the sand hills to a waiting ambulance, which took her to hospital for further treatment.
