A FALMOUTH man appeared in court charged with stealing £1,708.17 worth of cash and cannabis products from a high street shop.

Jordan Westlake, 27, of Tresillian Road, will be tried by a jury at Truro Crown Court on November 22.

He is charged with trespassing in Freeriders Surf Shop with intent to steal between November 21 and 23 2018 and stealing £208.17 worth of cash and £1,500 worth of cannabis products from The Grape Tree, both in Falmouth.

Westlake was given unconditional bail.

A FALMOUTH woman in her 60s was fined for being the owner of a vehicle with no valid insurance. 

Amanda Lillian Thompson, 64, of The Beacon, was fined £220 and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30. 

She was also ordered to pay court costs of £110.  Magistrates found her guilty in her absence.

A FALMOUTH man was handed a restraining order after damaging a car.

Luke Quiller Smith, 32, of Tresillian Road, committed the offence in Bournemouth on October 10.

By doing so he breached his conditions of bail which stated that he must not contact his victim.

He was given an 18-month conditional discharge and handed a restraining order to last October 17 2020.

He pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage and admitted breaching his bail conditions.

As well as the restraining order, Smith was ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £21 victim surcharge.

A MANACCAN man was banned for driving at nearly twice the legal alcohol limit.

Alexander Calvin Coulson, 28, of Tregildrey House, was caught driving with 68 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath when the limit is 35.

He committed the offence in Falmouth Road, Helston on October 6 and later pleaded guilty.

Coulson pleaded guilty and was fined £150 and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £32.

He was also disqualified from holding a licence for 18 months.

A HELSTON man received a hefty fine and was banned for drink driving.

Andi Petre Gabriel Nitulescu, 38, of Hawkins Way, committed the offence in Camborne on October 5.

He was found to have 56 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath when the legal limit is 35.

Nitulescu pleaded guilty and was fined £461 and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £46.

He was also disqualified from driving for 15 months.
