Under our current first past the post electoral system, the results of any general election very rarely match what the public voted for.
In Cornwall less than half the vote went to the Conservative party in 2017 yet all six Cornish MPs are Conservative, meaning the majority of the people's views on all issues, including Brexit, are not represented.
It has and could just as easily swing the other way as it did in 2005 when all Cornish MPs were Liberal Democrats elected on 45 per cent of the vote.
In either case this is not what people voted for and although, as it is hoped, a general election might deliver a majority government so something can be done, what is guaranteed is, this will not be what the majority of voters want to be done!
We need to change our electoral system to one where seats match votes so we get true representation of our views.
