MARIE Curie volunteers from across Cornwall enjoyed tea and cakes at the home of their County Patron, Alexandra Bolitho, at Trengwainton Gardens in Penzance.

Volunteers travelled from all over the county to attend and to receive badges for volunteering from three years to 25 years.

Lynda Thomas, community fundraiser, said: “I am so grateful for the support our volunteers at Marie Curie give to help raise awareness and of course the much needed funds to support our work here locally in Cornwall.

"The ‘Marie Curie Team’ of volunteers have a great time whilst fundraising in their local communities but also joining county events. I would welcome hearing from anyone who would like us to help us with our work.”

Last year Marie Curie nurses cared for 33,920 terminally ill patients in their own homes whilst also offering support for the families. Marie Curie exists for people living with any terminal illness, whether it’s terminal cancer or any other illness, and their families.

The charity offers expert care, guidance and support to help patients get the most from the time they have left.
