Father Christmas will be one of the star attractions at the Cornwall Air Ambulance Open Day on Saturday, November 30.

The charity will open its Newquay airbase to the public for a fun and festive behind-the-scenes look in the helicopter hangar.

Children will have the chance to meet Santa Claus in his grotto and take part in Christmas craft activities. There will be a pop-up charity shop and plenty of refreshments on offer.

It will be one of the last opportunities to see the outgoing MD 902 Explorer helicopter up close. There will also be the chance to meet the paramedics and find out more about the work they do.

Gemma Kidd, Cornwall Air Ambulance events fundraising officer, said: “Our open days are great for all the family. This year we’ve got Father Christmas paying a visit, and we have crafts and biscuit decorating for children. We also have lots of great gift ideas in our pop-up shop, perfect to grab a bargain just in time for Christmas. Come along and help to keep the helicopter flying.”

Go along from 11am to 3pm and raise money for the lifesaving charity.

Entry is free, but there will be a charge to enter the grotto. The open day takes place at the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust HQ, Trevithick Downs, Newquay, TR8 4DY.
