A gym team from Falmouth Sports Hub put in a mammoth shift for charity last week, with a gruelling 24-hour challenge.

Raising funds for Children in Need, the Evolve team, based at Falmouth School, took part in various different work outs from 5pm on Thursday right through until 5pm on Friday.

Matt Pullen, from Evolve, was delighted with how the event went, despite the tough challenge it presented.

He said: “We wanted to make sure this was a hard challenge so we could raise as much money as we could for this fantastic charity.

"To say it was tough would be an understatement, but to think we have done something to help others gives us all a massive sense of achievement and we are already thinking about next year’s challenge.”

Having already raised significant funds with a charity auction at the Trelowarren Arms a week before (which raised in excess of £700), the team decided to put their fitness to the ultimate test.

Supported by members of the community, school students and staff as well as family members, the team took part in a wide variety of challenging physical workouts including: circuits, judo, watt bike, Zumba, bodybuilding, functional fitness, Pilates, yoga, kettle bells and many more.

Matt added: “We must say a massive thanks to all that supported us with this. There are too many to mention, but so many local businesses, groups, clubs and individuals got involved, which makes us so proud to be a part of this great community.

"A special mention must go to our members who were just fantastic - throughout the whole 24 hours we always had them with us joining in and giving us food, so this was a proper team Evolve effort."

The current total raised, sits at a mightily impressive £2,500 and you can still donate at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sportshub.
