Armed police have been hunting Falmouth this evening for a man with a gun.
The police helicopter was also seen flying over the Boslowick area with search lights for around 20 minutes.
Police cars were also seen in the Glen View and Treliever Road area of Penryn.
The police force incident manager has since confirmed to the Packet that a man has been arrested.
He said: "We were called following a report that a male had taken a gun from an address.
"There were concerns for the safety of the male and others.
"The police mounted an armed operation to ensure the safety of the public, and also to try and take down and detain the male in possession of the gun."
The FIM said one man had since been arrested.
