A signed Poldark script, a week's stay in Menorca and the chance to drive two supercars are among the lots in a large charity auction being held just over a year after the death of much-loved Coverack woman Chloe Rideout.

The auction at the St Michael's Resort in Falmouth is raising money for the Sepsis Trust, after Chloe died from the condition on October 20 last year, following a routine operation.

The auction, which takes place next Sunday, December 8, has been organised be her parents Dave and Sharon and her brother Charlie, to raise further awareness.

Dave said: "My daughter went in hospital for an appendix operation and ended up dying from sepsis.

"As you can imagine, we are totally heartbroken and struggling to understand why this has happened.

"We didn't know what sepsis was and if we did Chloe would still be alive. Chloe was only 20!

"She was lovely and only ever thought of others."

Dave first started fundraising last Christmas, when he carried out a 30-mile sponsored walk on Christmas Day, from the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro to his home in Coverack, joined by family and friends.

"This auction is another chance for us to both raise awareness of sepsis and raise funds for this vital charity," added Dave.

"The Sepsis Trust visits schools, doctors and hospitals to educate and raise awareness of this problem so hopefully another young person doesn't lose their life and another family doesn't have to live the nightmare we are going through."

The auction will be led by Penzance auctioneer David Lay.

More than 70 lots are going under the hammer, including a script from the first series of the BBC adaptation of Poldark, signed by actors Aidan Turner who played Ross Poldark and Eleanor Tomlinson who played Demelza.

Also available to bid on is an original painting 'Blackthorn and Daffodils' donated by the artist Ted Dyer, a yachting weekend from Cornish Cruising providing a short introduction to sail cruising for novices, and a stay in an villa for eight people in S’Algar, Menorca.

Other prizes include the chance to drive two supercars - Lamborghini, Ferrari, GTR, Aston Martin or Audi R8 - at various venues including Perranporth, an oil painting of your pet by Vanessa Beverley Jones who has painted for the Queen, the hire of a classic Morgan for a day from Perranwell Classic Cars and a private guided tour of Pendennis Shipyard in Falmouth for up to four people.  For more details and to submit a pre-auction bid visit www.stmichaelsresort.com/chloe
