One person has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after two cars crashed on the A30 this lunchtime.

Police closed the dual carriageway in both directions between Hayle and Camborne following the crash, to allow the air ambulance to land.

The police force incident manager said one man had been taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and described his injuries as “serious but not believed to be life threatening or life changing.”

The road was closed from the Loggans Moor roundabout to the A3047 Camborne West junction for six hours.

The collision took place on the eastbound side, but police closed both sides to help with the recovery and investigations.

Diversions were set up via the old A30 road, through Roseworthy and Connor Downs, with traffic sensors showing delays due to the volume of traffic.

The main A30 has now been reopened.
