Falmouth's new Festive Weekend will be stewarded by a much-loved group of volunteers.

The Cruise Ship Ambassadors will become Christmas Ambassadors over the weekend of December 14 and 15, providing information to visitors and helping to manage activities.

New additions to Falmouth's festive celebrations this year are a £1 ice rink, carousel and a land train – all of which the ambassadors will help with.

Falmouth BID manager Richard Wilcox said: "The ambassadors do a brilliant year-round job for Falmouth and so it’s terrific that they have offered to support the new Festive Weekend and become our Christmas Ambassadors.

"The Festive Weekend is all about the community of Falmouth coming together so we are very grateful to those who will give up time to enable the new event to be as vibrant and colourful as possible.

"With loads planned by the town team, we very much hope residents and visitors will come in and support the town.”

Phil Boddy, Secretary of the Falmouth Cruise Ship Ambassadors added: “We are delighted to 'rebrand' ourselves as Christmas Ambassadors for the Festive Weekend.

"We’re very much looking forward to helping and seeing everyone at what promises to be a fantastic couple of days.”

The festive weekend is funded and coordinated by the town team (the management partnership between Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID), with support from the Christmas Working Group.

Events will run from midday until 6pm on Saturday December 14 and Sunday December 15.

Money raised from the activities will go into a Christmas pot for 2020, helping to fund future events.
