A HELSTON man faced charges of making indecent images and sexual touching of children when he appeared before Truro magistrates on Monday.

Daniel David Benton, aged 33, of Coronation Place, answered a total of 14 charges - seven of which he denied and a further seven to which he indicated a plea of guilty.

The indicated guilty pleas were for the following charges:

* Between March 17, 2013 and March 3, 2018 he made indecent photographs, namely 65 category A still images and one movie of a child

* Between March 17, 2013 and March 3, 2018 he made indecent photographs, namely 71 category B still images of a child

* Between March 17, 2013 and March 3, 2018 he possessed 515 indecent category C photographs, and one movie

* On March 8, 2018 he possessed 20 category A still images and four movies

* On March 8, 2018 he possessed 39 category B still images and three movies

* On March 8, 2018 he possessed 28 category C still images and three movies

* On March 8, 2018 he possessed an extreme pornographic image which portrayed in an explicit and realistic way an act which resulted or was likely to result in serious injury

Benton pleaded not guilty to the following allegations:

* On July 23 he intentionally caused or incited a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity

* On April 10 he intentionally caused or incited a girl aged 14 to engage in sexual activity

* Between April 18, 2010 and April 18, 2011 he intentionally caused a girl aged seven to eight years old to engage in sexual activity

* Between April 18, 2010 and April 18, 2011 he intentionally caused a seven year old to look at an image of a person engaging in a sexual activity

* On May 15, 2011 he intentionally sexually touched an eight-year old girl

* On May 15, 2011 he intentionally caused an eight year-old child to look at an image of a person engaging in sexual activity

* On August 6 he intentionally sexually touched a girl aged 15 when she did not consent and he did not reasonably believe that she was consenting

He will appear before Truro Crown Court for trial on January 3. He was released on conditional bail.
