The sound of a low flying helicopter landing in Helston last night caused many residents to wonder what was happening.
It has since been revealed that the helicopter was part of an emergency evacuation of a person needing urgent medical care.
Members of both Mullion and Porthleven coastguard rescue teams were called out just before 10pm to oversee the landing of the coastguard helicopter at Helston Cricket Club.
The teams then helped paramedics, carrying the patient to the helicopter to be flown for specialist treatment.
It is understood the casualty was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
