A HAIRDRESSING salon in Falmouth was targeted by attackers last night.

Burglars smashed a window at Waves Hairdressing, in Arwenack Street, making off with ten sets of hair straighteners and a hair dryer.

Salon owner Trudy Reid said: "They obviously must have planned it because the hole in the window is only big enough for an arm to get through and they would have needed some sort of pole to hook out the straighteners."

All the stock is made by GHD, one of the market leaders in hair care.
One of the ten sets of straighteners retailed at £175, whilst the others were around the £140 mark. The hair dryer was selling for £99.

"I've been here for 22 years and I've never had a window smashed before. We had a sign stolen a couple of years ago but we've never been broken into until now.

"The stock was part of our display but I won't buy anymore to replace it before Christmas now - I'll need to sort the insurance money first," she added.

The incident happened overnight, following the closure of the salon at around 4pm yesterday and before the arrival of staff at 8.45am today.

It has been business as usual despite the break-in, but Trudy had not heard from police at 2pm.

"I've tried calling them several times this morning but I was put on hold for so long that I gave up. There is some blood around the glass so I could do with them turning up soon, before it gets washed away by rain," she said.
