From 1965:

E Thomas & Co Ltd, of Falmouth, have been awarded a £105,000 contract to construct a water treatment works at Stithians. The contract is scheduled for completion in 12 months. The contract, placed by the Stithians Joint Water Committee, includes the construction of a steel framed brick and concrete building housing pumping and treatment plant, administration and chemical blocks, four rapid gravity filters in reinforced concrete and a clear water tank.

From 1867:

The New York & Havre Steam Navigation Co’s Screw Steamer, Arago, 2,240 tons, Gadsden, Commander, from New York called off Falmouth on Friday morning, to land mails and passengers and proceeded for Havre. She brings 205,580 dollars, specie for Havre, 183 passengers of which number 20 were landed here and 33 sacks of Mails.

His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, has, on the recommendation of the council of the Duchy of Cornwall, become an annual subscriber of £5 5s towards the funds of the Royal Cornwall Sailor’s Home at Falmouth.

Advertisement: Mr Corfield has been favoured with instructions from the proprietor to submit to public auction at the Royal Hotel, Falmouth, 1st August next, either together or in lots, to be arranged at the time of sale, unless previously disposed of by private treaty contract, of which due notice will be given, all these Freehold Estates and Tenements known as Boslowick, Prislow, Golden Bank and Little-in-sight etc. situate lying and being in the parish of Budock now in the occupation of the proprietor and respectable tenantry.

The property is within a few minutes’ walk of the parish churchyard and the Swanpool Beach, lies within a ring fence, in well watered, and approached by good roads; is in a high state of cultivation and immediate possession thereof can be obtained.

The rapidly increasing development of the important port of Falmouth greatly enhances the value of this property, as the demand for building land in the vicinity is continually on the increase, and must embrace very shortly portions of these lands, upon which there are many charming building sites adapted for mansions or villas.
