A 24 year-old man accused of four violence offences in Falmouth has had his hearing adjourned.

Thomas Stephen Opie, of no fixed address, appeared before Truro magistrates on Tuesday morning, clutching his stomach.

He asked for the case to be adjourned because he was unwell and it has now been put back until Tuesday, January 21.

It will be the sixth time the case has been listed in court since the charges were brought.

He is accused of one count of assaulting a man by beating, one of assaulting a woman and two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

The charges relate to an incident that allegedly took place in Falmouth on Sunday, October 6.

Opie was due to stand trial on November 26 at Truro Magistrates' Court. However, the defendant was involved in a car accident prior to that trial and was unable to take to the dock.
