A FALMOUTH man carried a knife in a public place, Truro magistrates heard on Tuesday.
Jodie Joel Matthews, aged 34, of Fish Strand Hill, admitted possessing a lock knife in the town's Killigrew Street on Monday, January 6.
He was sentenced to three months in jail, suspended for 12 months.
Magistrates said that the reason for custody was the "nature of the offence and the guidelines for offences of this nature".
The lock knife will be forfeited and destroyed by the police, because the bladed article had been carried unlawfully.
Matthews also appeared in court for three further charges on June 19, to which he pleaded guilty.
He damaged a Huawei mobile phone to the value of £200; damaged a a Huawei tablet to the value of approximately £200; and assaulted a woman.
He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £122 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
