TWO people were trapped following a two-car crash on a minor road this morning.

The B3297 near Burras was blocked in both directions following the accident and traffic was affected due to recovery work.

The fire service's Critical Control received a 999 call from Devon and Cornwall Police at7.14am regarding the crash, which involved a Skoda and a Toyota.

A police spokesman said: "The driver of the Skoda was taken to Treliske Hospital as a precaution with what are believed to be minor injuries. 

"The driver of the Toyota was cut free from the vehicle by the fire service and was also taken to hospital in Treliske as a precaution.

"She is believed to have suffered minor injuries. The road was completely blocked as a result of the incident and was reopened by 9.15am."

One appliance and the Rescue Tender from Tolvaddon were mobilised, along with an Officer.

On arrival, firefighters discovered a two vehicle road traffic collision, with two persons trapped. 

Crash Rescue Equipment was used to extricate the casualties, who were left in the care of ambulance service.

The incident happened at the Carnmenellis turn-off.

* There is ongoing queueing traffic on the A394 eastbound at Glenmore Terrace, with congestion to Rame Cross.

It is in the roadworks area and temporary traffic lights will be around the telecoms works for the remainder of the day.

It is affecting traffic between Helston and Penryn.
