The evening music line-up has been revealed for the 2020 Porthleven Food Festival, which will take place over three days from April 17-19.

It includes an Eighties theme party night on Friday, Funk and Soul Saturday and Skank Sunday.

Alec Short, chairman of the Porthleven Food Festival committee, said: “The Food Festival’s Shipyard Sessions are a great way to wind down after the day’s festivities and we’ve got a party for everyone this year.

"Friday will be a real theme-night eighties party, then Saturday is a chance to see some amazing, funk and soul bands who’ve had loads of national radio airplay, before our ultimate Sunday Skank sesh. There really is something for everyone in this line-up.”

Friday’s headliners Atomic 80s will bring the ultimate tribute to the 80s to Porthleven, blasting out all your favourite eighties party tunes. Dress up in eighties fashions as Atomic 80s bring you smash hits taking you back to this power decade.

This group of talented south west musicians have fast become a sought-after eighties experience, recreating hits from artists like Madonna, Wham!, Duran Duran, Blondie and Michael Jackson… sweet dreams are made of this.

Friday support will provide fun from Nigel Pengelly’s 80s Roadshow; with the Love Food Soundsystem supporting with on-theme tunes for Saturday and Sunday evenings.

On Saturday night the big guns will be smoking funk and northern soul as Daytoner and Smoove and Turrell take to the stage.

As a DJ & producer, Daytoner has supplied global funk, soul, ska and swing dance floors since 2009 with over 30 releases, remixes and edits on various labels.

There’s also been regular radio support from Craig Charles on BBC 6 Music & Radio 2 along with a BBC Introducing shortlisting, BBC Radio One plays and 1 million Soundcloud plays.

One of the finest and most dynamic funk and soul acts in Britain today, Smoove and Turrell recently celebrated ten years at the heart of the northern soul scene. The band's first record, I Can't Give You Up, proved so popular that the initial 500 vinyl pressings sold out, resulting in frenzied online bidding that saw the record changing hands for up to £160.

This Geordie crew have since been supported by Craig Charles on Radio 6 Music and scored Radio 2 records of the week, as well as spins on the 6 Music playlist.

Their songs have been used on feature films and TV shows as well as prim-time adverts on America's ABC network and in video games such as The Crew.
