A PORTHLEVEN man has been given a community order after admitting three shoplifting offences and an assault.

Thomas Bowden, aged 25, of Gibson Way, was sentenced by Judge Robert Linford at Truro Crown Court on Friday.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of shoplifting from Asda in Hayle last year.

Having originally denied the assault of a police office in Helston on November 22, he changed his plea to guilty.

The 12-month community order requires him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and 20 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement.

DRIVING with excess alcohol has resulted in a ban for a 39 year-old man.

Stephen Ian James Duckham, of Kew Carrek, Goonhavern, admitted committing the offence on October 13 on the A30 at Tolvaddon.

He was driving a Volkswagen Polo when he registered 120mlgs of alcohol in 100mls of urine.

He was disqualified by Truro magistrates for 14 months and fined £400. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

A PENSIONER has been disqualified from driving for 17 months.

David Key, aged 73, of Llawnroc Close, Camborne, admitted committing the offence in a Honda Jazz on December 24.

He had 61mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath.

He was fined £260 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

FAILING to give a specimen of breath having been suspected of a driving offence has cost a 51 year-old man his licence.

Adrian Paul Pheiffer, of Boscawen Road, Chacewater, admitted committing the offence on December 23.

He admitted a further charge of damaging a police cell to the value of £50 by contaminating it with blood.

He was banned for 20 months and fined £600. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs, £50 compensation and £60 victim surcharge.

ASSAULTING two women has resulted in a community order for a Truro man.

Dominik Seymour-Veriod, aged 27, of Riverside View, admitted committing the offences in Truro on July 10 last year.

He was ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work and comply with a rehabilitation activity requirement for up to 20 days.

A HAYLE man drove whilst more than twice the legal limit.

Shawn Michael Dennis, aged 34, of Madison Close, admitted committing the offence on December 30 at Penzance in a black VW Polo.

He was banned for three years after having 78mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

Dennis was also fined £500 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £50 victim surcharge.

A 35 year-old man has been banned from the roads for 20 months.

Darren John Glasson, aged 35, of Polgrain Road, Camborne, admitted committing the offence in a Seat Leon on December 29.

He had 79mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

He was also fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.
