A FALMOUTH restaurateur has been given a suspended prison sentence for perverting the course of justice.

Yeter Acar, of Church Street, had originally denied the charge but changed his plea to guilty when he appeared in Truro Crown Court last week.

He also admitted failing to disclose a previous driving conviction in order to obtain insurance.

The 54 year-old Turkish national withheld material information by failing to disclose previous driving convictions in order to obtain insurance for a BMW.

Acar also admitted attempting to pervert the cause of justice between January 20 and June 6 of this year, by selling a BMW that triggered a speed camera on January 21, to a fictitious person.

He entered not guilty pleas to both charges when he appeared in court last month, but changed his pleas last Tuesday.

He was given a five-month jail term, suspended for two years and was banned from driving for 28 days.

He was also ordered to pay £500 court costs and £115 victim surcharge.
