A TRIAL date has been set for a Falmouth man who faces four charges of violence.
Thomas Stephen Opie, aged 25, appeared before Truro magistrates this morning to explain why he had missed last Tuesday's hearing.
Defending him, Rob Eccleston said Opie had been ill in hospital on Monday night and although he had been released at 3.30am last Tuesday morning, did not feel well enough to attend court.
It was the seventh listing of the case, which involves four allegations from October 6.
Mr Opie appeared in court on the following day to plead not guilty to the charges, but has since been unwell on several occasions when his hearing has been due to take place.
Mr Eccleston added that his client is currently of no fixed address and his life is "slightly chaotic" although Mr Opie was "enjoying" the assistance of an Addaction representative and a social worker.
Magistrates decided not to enforce the Bail Act and set the trial date for Tuesday, March 3. Mr Opie was released on conditional bail.
He faces two counts of assault and two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.
