The Merlin MS Centre is running two challenge events to kick start your 2020.

It is challenging participants to decide whether to take part in their '100k in 100 Days', or to 'fly in the name of fundraising' at the charity's annual skydive event.

Taking place in March, and aiming to debunk the superstition that Friday 13th is unlucky, the popular skydiving event gives brave individuals a bird’s eye view of the county as they free fall up to 15,000ft over Perranporth Air Field.

In return for a minimum sponsorship of £500, participants can complete the challenge for free.

Centre volunteer Catherine Hanniford took on the challenge last year to celebrate her 60th Birthday, raising over £900 for the charity.

Catherine said: “I loved every minute of the whole experience and was very proud of myself. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate my ‘big’ birthday and I would do it all again tomorrow!

"My aim was to raise £600 for my 60th birthday so I was over the moon by people’s generosity at helping me raise £900.”

The 100km in 100 days challenge is suitable for both seasoned sports fanatics or those aiming to get fitter.

Participants chose how they are going to clock up their kilometres – it could be a cycle, walk, swim, run, or paddle with a target to complete the distance in 100 days.

Challenge organiser Ellie May said: “Maybe you want to get fit for a holiday, enjoy walking with the family and plan to do it more regularly or you have a passion for swimming and seek a new challenge.

“The joy of this event is that it can be done in your own time and gives you the freedom to complete it by doing something you enjoy or trying something new either on your own or with friends.”
