Two paddle boarders had to be checked over by Falmouth’s lifeboat crews this morning as they took to the water during Storm Dennis.
The RNLI was contacted by concerned members of the public, who were worried for the safety of the paddle boarders in the Carrick Roads.
The inshore lifeboat crew launched at 8.17am and made their way up river to near Pill Creek, where a boarder was reported to be.
The all-weather relief lifeboat Volunteer Spirit was subsequently launched shortly after at 8.50am, due to the weather conditions, with force 8 south-south westerly winds, gusting at force 9.
An RNLI spokesperson said: “The lifeboats located two paddle boarders who were paddling up river to Truro and made sure that they were well, and well prepared for the conditions as they continued their way upriver.”
“The two lifeboats and crew returned to the station and made the boats ready for service.”
