FALMOUTH schoolchildren discovered how homes are built on a visit to a new development.

Year 1 pupils from St Francis C of E Primary School were invited to Chy An Dowr off Bickland Water Road as part of their studies on building and materials and it allowed them to see a building site in action.

The Taylor Wimpey site team also gave the pupils a tour of one of the showhomes, demonstrating not only the building process but also the completed product.

Rachel McDermid, Key Stage 1 phase lead at the school, said: “It was brilliant for the pupils to don their hard hats and visit Chy An Dowr. We’ve been focusing on building this term, so to be able to show them around a real building site so close to the school and see everything in action was an excellent opportunity which all of the pupils were very excited about.

"The added tour of the show home meant that this was one of the best trips to date for the Year 1 class, and we’re certain that it has helped in their understanding of the topic.”

Ben Noakes, senior site manager at Chy An Dowr, said: “It’s always a real honour to be involved in the community around our developments. Allowing that community to understand what we do, as well as the positive impact we aim to have, makes it all that bit more special. Myself and the team at Chy An Dowr had a lovely time hosting the Year 1 class at St Francis C of E Primary School and are so delighted that they got so much out of their trip to our development.”
