Classes supporting women through different stages of their life will be offered for free to mark International Women's Day next month.
Garbo House is a women’s wellbeing centre in Penzance's Bread Street offering holistic support to help women navigate menstruation, pregnancy, postnatal care, motherhood, menopause and issues around female fertility.
Leif Olsen, who launched the centre at the start of this year, will be offering a week of free classes to new participants from March 9, whether it’s a one-off relaxation session or a trial for joining a class on a weekly basis.
Classes include yoga for teenagers, pregnancy and baby yoga classes, meditation and women’s yoga therapy.

She said: “I want to use International Women’s Day to celebrate the strength of women as they face and overcome the challenges specifically relating to female health.
"At Garbo House we've created a nurturing space where everyone is welcome. By opening the doors to new students for a week for free I hope to enable and inspire women who perhaps wouldn’t usually go to yoga or other group sessions to come and enjoy that feeling of belonging.
"It’s about providing the opportunity for time-out in our busy lives. It’s not always easy to set aside a few hours for reflection and self-care, but it’s important that we do in order to build our resilience.”
Leif, who has been a yoga practitioner for over 20 years and specialises in pregnancy yoga, wants to reach all sections of the community and Garbo House has a bursary available for those less able to pay for classes.
She added: “At Garbo House we not only offer practical help, but also a support network. In these classes friendships are formed, challenges are shared and overcome, and women feel nurtured and empowered through connectivity.
"The value of that is huge – right from teenage years to motherhood, to menopause and beyond.”
