A cliff top hotel in the west of Cornwall is celebrating being upgraded with a prestigious fourth star.
The Mullion Cove Hotel was awarded four AA stars this month, with inspectors carrying out a detailed inspection of the entire operation, ranging from housekeeping, hospitality and restaurant to cleanliness, service and décor.
They were particularly impressed by the multi-million pound spa that opened last summer, describing it as an “imposing building in a wonderful position, with excellent quality levels.”

The hotel’s staff were also praised for their warmth and efficiency.
General manager Daniel Thompson, who joined the hotel in 2015, said the accolade came after several years of continual upgrading across all internal and external areas.
In addition to room refurbishments, he has overseen the development of the spa and a collection of five star self-catering apartments.
During this time, the restaurant has been awarded two AA rosettes under the watching eye of head chef James Heath.
Mr Thompson said: “Of course, we are over the moon at being recognised as a four star hotel, but we see this very much as a catch up award that simply reflects the excellent service and quality across all areas that we have been offering for a long time now.
“Our guests can rest assured that we won’t be putting on airs and graces on the back of this, but will continue to do what we do so well at an affordable price and with the best possible team.”
