A FALMOUTH travel company has announced it will be working with Go Cornwall Bus to deliver improvements to bus services in and around the town.

OTS has secured the contract and its transport manager Ben Moore expressed his delight at the link-up.

“We are very excited to be working in partnership with Go Cornwall Bus. We have always strived to offer the highest quality bus services for the people of Falmouth and surrounding villages and we are delighted that our efforts have been recognised.

"We can’t wait to start operating more routes and delivering the kind of improvements the local area deserves," he said.

Earlier this month it was announced that Go Cornwall Bus, part of the Go-Ahead Group, had been successful in a revolutionary bid to operate Cornwall Council supported bus routes across the county from March, 29, 2020 for at least the next eight years.

OTS has invested £750,000 in new Mercedes-Benz buses and are also committed to investing in new premises to support their growth, with a new depot planned.

Ben added: “People will be very impressed with how far bus design has come. They’re bright, airy and quiet inside and safe too, as seatbelts are fitted. With step-free entry, next-stop announcements and USB charging they will be convenient for locals and visitors alike.

"Best of all, the engines meet the most stringent emissions regulations so we can keep our beautiful county that way. In four years we will renew our fleet again to ensure we're always operating the most environmentally friendly and comfortable buses.

"The out-of-town site for the new depot will give us an enviable facility with undercover parking for all our vehicles and improved rest facilities for staff."

All of the company’s existing drivers will be working on the new bus network for Falmouth, as well as some new faces.

“We’ve taken on some new drivers to support this growth, but we are still keen to employ the best bus drivers in the area to help us deliver consistently good service. With an eight year contract we are in a position to offer job security and invest even more in our employees," said Ben.

The new bus services start on March 29.
