A TRURO man has been given a community order after admitting four offences.

Colin Michael Blight, aged 33, of Coronation Terrace, drove a silver Peugeot 207 whilst over the legal alcohol limit.

He had 198mlgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood. The legal limit is 80mlgs. He also drove without insurance or a licence on October 7.

A fourth offence took place on January 26 this year, when he was drunk and disorderly in Oak Way.

Blight undertake an alcohol treatment requirement for alcohol dependency, under the direction of Addaction for six months.

He must also complete a rehabilitation activity requirement for up to 10 days.

He was disqualified from driving for 20 months and fined £120. He was also ordered to pay £170 costs and £90 victim surcharge.

BREAKING a 60mph speed limit has resulted in a fine for a 53 year-old man.

Steven Hollis, of Tresowes Hill, Ashton, near Helston, admitted committing the offence in a Renault Trafic on the A30.

He was fined £276 and ordered to pay £85 costs. His licence was endorsed with six points.

A PENRYN man has been banned from the roads for speeding.

Roger James Nicholls, aged 49, of Harbour View, admitted breaking a 60mph limit in a Mercedes SLK on July 7.

He was disqualified for 14 days and fined £128. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

A 43 year-old man has been spared a driving ban because it would have resulted in a loss of his business.

Stephen Norman Parsons, aged 43, of Trevose Road, Truro, admitted driving without insurance on the A390 on November 16.

Magistrates did not disqualify him despite him exceeding the points limit, because his loss of business would also result in two employees losing their jobs.

He was fined £500 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £50 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points.

A MABE man has escaped a driving ban after using a mobile phone whilst at the wheel.

Samuel Richards, aged 30, of Gweal Darras Estate, originally denied the offence but changed his plea to guilty.

He committed the offence in Calenick Street, Truro, in a BMW on November 11.

Magistrates did not impose a ban despite him exceeding the points limit, because it would have resulted in a loss of employment, which would in turn meant the defendant lost his accommodation and he would not be able to support his young family.

A MAN was given an absolute discharge after pleading guilty to driving without insurance.

Magistrates felt that Adam Thouless, aged 28, of Trecarrack Road, Camborne, was "genuinely misled" by a friend as to the insurance cover.

They stated: "The defendant believed that he was covered to drive and rove because he was sure that the cover had been effected."

The offence took place in a Chrysler in Pendarves Street, Beacon, on October 28.
