A MOTHER of six drove without insurance, MoT or a licence, Truro magistrates heard.

Kelly Marie Price, aged 31, of Wheal Jewel, Tresaderns Hill, St Day, admitted committing the offences on November 18 at Illogan Highway.

Representing herself in court, she told magistrates: "I was told by my friend that the car was insured, but I wasn't sure because I can't read and write properly."

She added: "I had to get food for the kids but I know that doesn't make it all right."

Since the offences were committed, Price has passed her driving test and said that if she had to re-apply for another licence, it would have a "pretty hard effect on life".

Magistrates imposed six points - meaning that her licence is revoked and she will have to retake her test.

She was fined £120 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge.
