Murdoch Day in Redruth has been cancelled amid continuing uncertainty over when coronavirus restrictions will be lifted.
The event, which celebrates the achievements of William Murdoch - the inventor of gas lighting - through a day of children's dance and art, music and a street market, was due to take place on June 13.
However, organisers announced last night: "It is with a heavy heart we have to announce the cancellation of Murdoch Day on June 13.
"We hope that you understand and continue to support us in ensuring your community follows social distancing guidelines during this unprecedented time."
It follows the cancellation of other large events in the area, including Helston Flora Day and Camborne's Trevithick Day.
