The Post Office in Threemilestone is proposing to move to the village's SPAR shop.

The 60-metre move would see increased opening hours and a seven day service for Post Office customers.

The proposed new-style local branch would have Post Office services provided from two open-plan counters alongside the retail counter of the convenience store.

Opening hours would be from Monday to Sunday, 7am – 10pm.

This would be an extra 65 hours of Post Office service a week including all day Saturday and Sunday.

The branch would also open earlier and would close much later every day.

Andy Healey, Post Office change manager, said: “We want to make it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”

Threemilestone Post Office has been operated by a temporary Postmaster so an alternative location is necessary in order to continue to offer Post Office services to the local community.

The SPAR store is approximately 60 metres from the existing branch at Hugus Road.

The Post Office is inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a public consultation.

The consultation will close on May 6. Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 186555.

Submissions can also be made via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, by post to Freepost YOUR COMMENTS, or by telephone 03452 66 01 15 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
