Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care.

His coronavirus symptoms worsened this afternoon after he was admitted to hospital yesterday.

He was taken into hospital for tests on Sunday, nine days after being diagnosed with coronavirus. 

A Downing Street statement said: "Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.”

Mr Johnson has asked foreign secretary Dominic Raab to deputise for him.

It has been reported that the prime minister has been moved to the intensive care unit in case he requires a ventilator.
