A handmade crafts store has sold more than half its stock within 24 hours of launching their ‘Happy Post’ subscription to online customers.

The Redruth-based The Craft Collective sells handmade products for 70 different local artists and are among the many businesses that have been affected by Covid-19 restrictions.

The ‘Happy Post’ boxes contain gifts from their store and were created in hope that it will bring a smile to customers, whilst supporting businesses that have been suffering.

Business owner Annelie Wood said: “We are celebrating four years of being in business and understandably the current national crisis has made things difficult for us and many of our fellow small business owners.

“The idea of Happy Post is to bring some excitement into people’s life whilst also helping out artists that aren’t making as much money as they normally would.”

The Craft Collective launched the Happy Post on Tuesday morning and were greeted with high demand from customers.

Annelie said: “I thought the uptake would be good but I didn’t expect to sell half of my stock in 24 hours.

“We’ve had a lot of people sending boxes as gifts for others, and some of the notes in the orders almost brings a tear to your eye because it’s so moving.”

Prior to Covid-19 Annelie said The Craft Collective had just celebrated its "best sales year ever".

“It seems wrong to end the financial year on a sad note. We just want to put a smile on people’s faces during these difficult times, especially for people working extra hard or people concerned about their future," she added.

The craft collective’s aim is to work with a number of different artists each month and the business is already preparing to ship out even more stock next month.
