A concerned dog walker has warned others to be careful after discovering a number of animals that had mysteriously died in a Penryn valley.

Louise Hendy said in the last five days she had seen two dead squirrels, a vixen and only this morning had discovered a dead fox.

All were in Glasney Valley woodlands, with the fox found underneath one of the pillars of the College Wood viaduct.

It has led to concerns from her and others that the animals could be succumbing to disease, or potentially something toxic.

Falmouth Packet:

Louise told the Packet: "There doesn’t seem to be any sign of natural predation so their demise is unexplained.

"I am worried for other wild species like the roe deer etc, in case of some strange disease, or worse still maybe something toxic which could affect dogs or indeed humans."

She added that she believed other walkers had noticed similar findings over the past two weeks.

Louise and a group of other walkers who use the valley are now contacting various organisations to report the issue, in the hope that tests can be carried out.

The Packet is in the process of contacting authorities for more information, with updates to follow.
