TWO more people have died due to coronavirus in Cornwall.

The latest figures to be released by NHS England show that the total number of deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust has risen to 53, an increase of two since yesterday.

The number at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust remains at 22, meaning that the total number of coronavirus deaths in Cornish hospitals now stands at 75.

The numbers do not include deaths outside of hospitals, however the Government is set to begin releasing that data, it said earlier this week.

New Office for National Statistics (ONS) data released today shows that at least 35 Covid-19-related deaths in Cornwall have taken place outside of hospitals - in settings such as care homes and private dwellings.

It means that at least 110 people with coronavirus have died in Cornwall.

Across England as a whole, a further 445 people who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 19,746.

Patients were aged between 14 and 101 years old. Of those, 27 of the 445 patients – aged between 14 and 94 years old – had no known underlying health condition.

Their families have been informed.

The south west as a whole saw 16 new deaths.

As of Tuesday night there were 473 confirmed coronavirus cases in Cornwall.
