The Rotary Club of Falmouth has now donated a total of £1,000 to the team at the Dracaena Centre who are delivering food to the most vulnerable during the Covid 19 crisis.

This week the Club transferred a further £500 to fund this relief effort, adding to the £500 Rotary sent to the Dracaena Centre last month.

Dracaena Centre manager Richard May said: “The Rotary Club of Falmouth has generously donated £1,000 to the Dracaena Centre to support the Covid 19 effort to set up weekly deliveries of prepared meals and food parcels to the most vulnerable using a range of support projects delivered by the Dracaena Team.”

“We have also received financial support from Cornwall Community Foundation and food donations from Sainsbury’s Falmouth. None of us know how many weeks we will need to support the most vulnerable beneficiaries of the Centre with food parcels but we have a committed team and we will ensure that we support for as long as we possibly can.”

Richard added that since Wednesday April 6 his team had delivered 447 prepared meals and 232 food parcels to the needy.

Falmouth Rotary President, Peter Grifffiths, said: “Falmouth Rotarians will continue to support the hard-working volunteers helping local vulnerable and elderly get through the current crisis.”

Falmouth Rotary Club has been supporting the local community since its foundation in 1922. The aims of Rotary are service before self, the maintenance of high ethical standards in business and the advancement of international understanding and goodwill.
