WIN 10 free pasties!

Falmouth Packet:

Lorina Thomas, who used to make pasties as a hobby at home, has taken the plunge and started her own business and is now operating as Lorina's Pasties on Falmouth's Tregoniggie Industrial Estate.

She said: "I came here at first because I wanted a table, but Wendy (who had the previous bakery Tickleyertastebuds) said 'why don't you take it on?'

So that's what I did. It was a bit nerve-racking at first because I wasn't sure if people would buy them, but it's gone very well in the first month, and more and more people are using us.

I decided that I wanted to do something for myself. I used to make a few pasties from home but since I've moved here and sold them, it's given me a buzz. We're getting busier all the time and I'm hoping that, at the end of the sixth-month contract, I'll be in a position to carry on."

Besides pasties, she has just launched an egg and bacon pie and also offers a sandwich platter service for functions such as weddings, funerals, or office parties.

Meet Jamie Richards

Falmouth Packet:

“I was in denial about my weight. I looked at photos and my reflection and didn't like what I saw, so I decided to make a change. I needed some help and support, so in the middle of January 2020,  I made the decision and joined a Slimming World group.

When I finally got weighed for the first time, it really sunk in how unhealthy I was, so that spurred me on to do this to the best of my ability. Having the support of my family, my partner, and others has been a real help. Now my health is so much better, and it’s given me my self-esteem back.

Being a member of the group and now on the virtual service has made it so simple to lose the weight. Having the support from both my consultant and the group helps make sense of how to tackle the weightless. With the tools, recipes, and guidance, it has helped make something that seemed so impossible, simple.”

Jamie in 16 weeks has lost a fabulous 4 stone and 2lbs and has 1 stone 3lbs to go to his target which together as a group with help, advice and support he knows he will get there. He joins the zoom meetings each week for weekly inspiration, tips, and advice.
