The air ambulance was called yesterday after a woman fell from a sea wall at Marazion.

Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team and paramedics were also sent to Marazion, where the woman had fallen onto shingle close to the former lifeguard hut at Station House, at around 11.10am.

Coastguard prepared a helicopter landing site for the air ambulance in the car park at Folly Field, and also helped ambulance staff carried the woman across the beach on a stretcher.

A spokesperson said: "On arrival a critical care paramedic was delivered from the helicopter to assist the paramedics treating the lady, who had suspected C-spine and neck injuries.

"Once the lady had been packed onto the stretcher it was decided to transport her to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske by land ambulance.

"Coastguard personnel transferred her to the awaiting ambulance by carry out along the beach and up the slip.

"A big thank you to the Folly Field car park staff in securing a safety area for the helicopter."
