IT has now been 10 days since a coronavirus-related death in Cornwall's hospitals.

Friday's NHS England figures again confirmed that the total for the county remains at 90, with 64 people losing their lives at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and 26 at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

However, the daily NHS updates only cover deaths in hospitals.

Earlier this week the Office for National Statistics updated its totals – which cover hospitals, care homes and deaths in the community – to 198 for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Across England, a further 70 people who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 27,860.

Patients were aged between 24 and 102 years old. Three patients, aged between 78 and 102, had no known underlying health conditions, NHS England said.

Their families have been informed.

Three new deaths were registered in the south west as a whole.

As of Thursday there have been 588 confirmed coronavirus cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, out of a population of 571,802.

That was an increase of one since the previous day.

Between February 29 and May 29, 11 per cent of all deaths involved coronavirus.
