Six people in Helston were celebrating over the weekend after winning £1,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode.

The neighbours netted the windfall when TR13 8LY, in the Roskilling Wartha area of the town, was announced as a daily prize winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Sunday.

Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt sent her well-wishes to the winners, saying: “What a fantastic way to end the weekend!

"Congratulations to our winners I hope they enjoy their winnings.”

It came less than four weeks after a road in Breage won the same prize.

The People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month and sees players sign up through their postcode.

There are daily £1,000 draws for every ticket in 20 postcode areas, as well as £30,000 draws on Saturdays and Sundays for every ticket in one winning postcode, a monthly draw for £3 million to be shared by winners in one winning postcode.

The more people with the same postcode who sign up, the more chance there is of winning.

A minimum of 32 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities, with players raising more than £500 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

This draw was promoted by Crisis, which has received over £3.8 million in funding from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Crisis is dedicated to ending homelessness and helps approximately 10,000 people each year through education, housing, employment and health services across England, Scotland and Wales.

Many good causes close to the winners have also benefitted from players’ support, and local charities can next apply for funding in August.
