Police in Falmouth have been cracking down following a series of thefts in the area at shops and homes.

They included burglary at a supermarket out of hours, safety equipment being stolen from a town business and parcels being swiped from another, as well as a break-in at a house.

One of the incidents took place at Lidl at Ponsharden, on Sunday, June 14 at around 6.30pm.

Police said entry was forced into the supermarket and a box of Stella Artois was stolen.

A 38-year-old man and 16-year-old boy, both from Falmouth, have now been arrested on suspicion of burglary and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

There was also a burglary reported at a home in Oakfield Road, Falmouth, which is believed to have taken place at some point between noon on Wednesday, May 20 and 6pm on Monday, June 15. Numerous household items were stolen, said police.

Two men, aged 38 and 19, and a 16-year-old boy, all from Falmouth, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and released under investigation.

Two fire extinguishers were then stolen during a late-night break-in at a service station in Dracaena Avenue, Falmouth.

Police said that this took place between 12.50am and 1.20am on Monday, June 15 - with a further two fire extinguishers then reported as stolen on Friday, June 19 at around 10.30pm.

The spokesperson said: "A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, both from Falmouth, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and have been released under investigation."

On the same day, May 15, parcels were stolen from the reception area of offices in Falmouth Road, Penryn, at around 2.15pm, added police.
