A post office delivering top quality customer service has been named among the best in the south west.

Tehidy Road Post Office has won the Better for Customers category at Post Office Ltd’s ‘We’re Stronger Together’ regional awards.

The awards recognise the efforts made by postmasters across the region to keep branches open during the Covid-19 pandemic and serving their local community.

The award was presented virtually last night to mother and son Barbara and John Beach, who run the branch.

Barbara and John said: “To be nominated for this award was a huge shock, but to actually win it was truly amazing.

"To receive this kind of recognition from Post Office and the feedback from our customers for doing something we love makes us feel very much appreciated and a valued part of our local community.

“At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic our main focus was to be able to continue to provide the community with essential services whilst creating a safe environment to do so, and to work with local business and online sellers to find a way in which we could support each other to enable us all to continue to do business.”

Post Office area manager Cathryn Gee said Tehidy Road Post Office was nominated for its dedication to customers throughout the coronavirus pandemic and throughout the year.

She added: "Barbara and John take pride in their family run business and are on first name basis with many of their customers.

"They are clearly adored by customers, winning the south west region 'Customer Comment on the Month' in May and routinely receiving customer feedback like ‘They are an integral part of the running of our business—especially during Covid-19’ and that Barbara and John are ‘A real treasure in the community’.

"Barbara, who is fluent in Polish, has a strong rapport with the local Polish community and will often see a queue patiently waiting just to talk to her.”
